Signs Your BFT Keypad & Intercom Is Failing

• Keypad lights up but the gate does not move. The keypad is sending a signal, but the control board is not receiving it. This usually points to a failed relay on the keypad circuit board or a broken wire between the keypad and the opener.
• Buttons require three or four presses before they register. The membrane keypad contacts oxidize over time, especially in Keller’s summer humidity. Once the contacts begin to go, they only get worse, and the next rain usually finishes them off.
• Intercom rings but the voice is garbled or one-way. The microphone or speaker element has degraded, or a connection on the audio wire has corroded. One-way audio is a classic moisture-related failure.
• Numbers appear on the display but the wrong digit shows or the display is dim. That is a failing LCD driver, not a battery issue. Once the display starts dropping segments, the board is on its way out.
• The keypad works fine until it rains, then goes dead for a day or two. Water is entering the housing, usually at the gasket or a cracked faceplate. The circuit board is still good in the short term, but every wet cycle shortens its life. Seal it early or replace it sooner.
